In May 2016, DOU was held about universities in which IT experts study or studied. Such surveys were conducted and, but this year we decided to make an assessment more complete and comprehensive.
As we thought
To build a rating was chosen evaluation of readiness to recommend its faculty or department as a place of learning. We used this particular indicator, because it is less dependent on the subjective life circumstances of the respondent (for example, nostalgia for adolescence or displeasure insufficient efforts attached during training). In addition, since the recommendation is done "for the future", the respondent can take into account not only personal experience Learning, but also any information about the university received after the release - in this way we get a more objective assessment.
results
The lowest estimates were obtained (5.7) and (4.7).
The rest of the universities received average estimates - not higher and not lower than the average level.
Interestingly, the rating leads the universities of a common profile (with the exception of Khnure). While specialized technical universities, such as KPI, Lviv Polytechnic, ONPU, Hai, KPI, DonNTU received average estimates, and VNTU and NAU even below average.
In addition to high estimates, there are several separate highly appreciated faculties in medium universities.
This is faculty applied mathematics B (estimate 7.3), as well as several faculties: Physico-Technical Institute (PTI) - 7.4 points, Faculty of Applied Mathematics (FPM) - 7.3 points, Institute of Applied Systemic Analysis (IPSA) - 7.0 points .
KPI, being the largest university for IT education (a quarter of respondents learn or studied in this university), received average estimates. The main reason is the scatter in estimates of different faculties. As opposed to the aforementioned stronger faculties (FTI, FPM, IPSA), FVT, TEF and FEL, received secondary estimates () are also analyzed in the study.
To view data on all universities, use the widget below or table with all data. Full data array can be downloaded on GitHub.
Green highlighted values above average throughout the sample, orange - Below average throughout the sample. Values in cells without pouring does not differ from the middle sample (the level of significance is 90%).
Cells with numbers show average rating On a scale from 1 to 10, with% - a share of all respondents of a particular university / faculty.
Total rating: Readiness to recommend the Department / Faculty Prestige Faculty Organization educational process, availability of bureaucracy, informing students Learn difficult Database Good explanations, understandable material feed Technical condition of premises Group / Stream: Level of Knowledge, Motivation Involvement and support for students in research activities Financial efficiency (attraction and distribution of funds) Faced bribes personally IT experts performed as invited lecturers Enough cooperation with IT companies in the field of employment Would not change the place of learning |

For analysis, the questionnaires of respondents with IT experience and learning experience in Ukrainian universities were selected (the availability of a diploma is optional).
A total of 3081 questionnaire was collected. For analysis, we selected universities and individual faculties for which 40 and more questionnaires were collected.

38% of respondents - graduates 2011-2015, and 29% still learn:
More than half of the respondents have a master's degree or specialist:
67% of respondents work by developers, another 11% are occupied in QA:
