Chemistry department of msu subjects. Chemical class. Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University is

Day of foundation of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Moscow state university named after M.V. Lomonosov is considered October 1, 1929. Of course, chemistry was taught here before - from 1760 at the medical department and from 1804 at the physics and mathematics faculties. Back in the 19th century, the main department of chemistry, departments of technical chemistry, agronomic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry were created at the Imperial Moscow University. In the early years Soviet power the study of chemistry was given great importance and new laboratories were opened at the University, postgraduate studies were organized. In the educational buildings of the Lomonosov Moscow State University on Mokhovaya Street it became more and more crowded.

After the end of the war, it was time to think about building a palace for "the world's most advanced socialist science." In 1948, it was decided to build a university campus on the Lenin Hills, and Lev Rudnev was appointed the chief architect. Heavy machinery moved along the streets of the surrounding villages, barracks-barracks for workers appeared on the vacant lots.

The construction was carried out day and night, during the earthworks in winter, the frozen soil was crushed by explosions. Five railway lines were laid directly to the buildings for the delivery of parts of the steel frame (this is over 70,000 tons of metal) and other goods. The construction of all buildings of the university took 14 million bricks.

The technical project and the general estimate for the construction of the Moscow State University complex were approved by Joseph Stalin, and the project was supervised by Lavrenty Beria, who used the labor of several thousand prisoners in the construction. In particular, the building of the Faculty of Chemistry was erected by a camp-type organization of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs - SU 560. With such close attention of the "party and government", the university was commissioned by the fall of 1953. September 1 "a symbol of the great concern of the Communist Party, government and all our people for young people Soviet country"opened its doors.

The buildings of the university campus were being built almost simultaneously, in the middle ground - the Faculty of Chemistry, it began to be built at the end of 1949.

One of the final scenes of the cult movie was filmed not near some military academy, and at the entrance to the chemistry department. 1970, still from the film "Officers": http://oldmos.ru/old/photo/view/69422

At the main entrance there are two monuments - to Dmitry Mendeleev and Alexander Butlerov

Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev (1834-1907) - Russian scientist-encyclopedist: chemist, physicochemist, physicist, metrologist, economist, technologist, geologist, meteorologist, teacher, aeronaut, instrument-maker. Professor at St. Petersburg University. Among the most famous discoveries is the periodic law chemical elements, one of the fundamental laws of the universe.

Alexander Mikhailovich Butlerov (1828-1886) - Russian chemist, creator of the theory chemical structure organic matter, founder of the "Butlerov school" of Russian chemists, scientist-beekeeper and lepidopterist, public figure, rector of the Imperial Kazan University in 1860-1863.

The current address of the faculty is listed as "Moscow, Leninskie Gory, no. 1, p. 3". Such a street was not found on the map, the Lenin Hills means the microdistrict in which all the university buildings are located. The Faculty of Chemistry includes several buildings located on the campus. Let's take a look at the main, five-story building of the chemistry department, where the interiors, furniture and equipment of the 1950s have been preserved.

In the photo: young chemists are studying the oscillatory reaction of Belousov-Zhabotinsky. This is a class chemical reactions occurring in an oscillatory mode, in which some reaction parameters (color, concentration of components, temperature) change periodically, forming a complex space-time structure reaction medium... The reaction was discovered by Boris Belousov in 1951, and many scientists and groups of various scientific disciplines around the world are still engaged in its research. Students carry out the oxidation reaction of malonic acid with bromate in the presence of vanadium as a catalyst and tris-phenanthrolinate of iron as a color-forming component. Changes when mixing reagents were noticeable even to an amateur in chemistry - the solution in the saucer changed colors from red to blue and back to red.

Currently, the team of the Faculty of Chemistry http://www.chem.msu.su/ is more than 1800 employees, including 315 professors, associate professors, senior teachers, assistants, more than 800 researchers, about 700 engineers, technicians and laboratory assistants.

The faculty includes 16 departments, which represent all modern directions chemical science and relevant specializations for which highly qualified chemists are trained:
Analytical chemistry
Colloid chemistry
Inorganic chemistry
Organic chemistry
Physical chemistry
Petroleum Chemistry and Organic Catalysis
Of English language
Chemical kinetics
Chemical enzymology
High molecular weight compounds
Laser chemistry

Electrochemistry

During the first years of study, students study basic fundamental disciplines, and also engage in scientific work on the basis of the departments of the faculty. The remaining training time is devoted to specialization in the chosen direction and the implementation of the thesis.

During the construction of the building of the chemical faculty, hollow reinforced concrete beams were used as load-bearing structures, into which ventilation pipes, water supply, and electrical wiring for numerous laboratories were laid. Entering the building of the Faculty of Chemistry, you immediately understand that you were not mistaken with the address, it seems that the hoods work, but the smell is specific.

This hood became a decorative element, initially the system was powered by engines under the fountains, but they have not been working for twenty years.

In addition to dozens of laboratories and classrooms, the building has three large auditoriums: Large, North and South.

Equipment and interior details for Moscow State University were supplied by more than 500 enterprises from all the republics of the USSR. This plafond was made in Riga. The original wooden cladding has also been preserved in the corridors.

You can dine in the dining room on the second floor, and the Alchemist grocery store downstairs

Relevant regardless of the season. The sleds need to be prepared in the summer, says a well-known popular saying. Therefore, future applicants need to decide on a university long before passing final exams and receiving a certificate. High-quality education in the traditions of Russian scientific school offers Moscow State University, the Faculty of Chemistry is one of the leading at the university.

Historical reference

The teaching of chemistry began three years after the establishment of the university - in 1758. It took two years for the first chemical laboratory to be formed. Initially, the disciplines read had a medical focus, but since 1804 chemistry has become an independent discipline.

Throughout the 19th century, the Department of Chemistry has been developing thanks to the talent of its people. Heads of the unit in different years were professors F.F. Reiss, R.G. Gaiman, N.E. Lyasovsky, V.V. Markovnikov, N. D. Zelinsky. Each of them was not only an excellent lecturer, but also an excellent practitioner. The equipment of laboratories is constantly being improved, which makes it possible to carry out experiments, the result of which was the discovery of the phenomena of electroosmosis and electrophoresis, the laying of the foundations of organic catalysis.

The chemical or physicochemical faculty of Moscow State University did not exist in those years, but there were only separate departments. In 1921, a chemical department was formed from them, which only in 1929 was transformed into a chemical department.

Manual

Information for applicants

School graduates are concerned about the question: how to become a student of Moscow State University (Faculty of Chemistry)? The admission procedure is no different from other educational organizations. It is necessary to prepare documents and pass entrance tests (for some specialties, the presence of the exam is required).

In all areas, training is conducted in full-time... Transfer to the second and senior courses at Moscow State University (Faculty of Chemistry) is possible. In this case, exams are taken only in chemistry, the test form is the exam and oral knowledge testing.

Knowledge control programs conducted by the university in addition to the unified exam are available on the university website. In chemistry, the list of questions is divided into two parts. The first concerns theoretical chemistry, the second - directly to the elements and their compounds. Exam tickets are formed from 10 tasks. To help applicants, the selection committee offers a list of textbooks and reference books.

Training is provided mostly free of charge. In 2017, 223 people will be enrolled in the first course of the specialist. The university provides paid places for only 25 applicants. The master's program involves training only on a contractual basis (11 places), the same applies to applicants who have higher education(3 places).

Passing score

Judging by the number of applications filed and the availability of seats, the competition is not that great - 2.26 people apply for one position.

The analysis of competitive indicators in previous years will help to assess the feasibility of admission. The applicant must pass five screening tests. The maximum score of each is 100 points, which gives a total of 500. The first wave of enrollment in 2016 took place with minimum score 398. To be enrolled in the second wave at the chemistry department, you had to score more than 378 points. In 2015, the competition was lower - 382/364, respectively.

Is it a lot or a little to go to Moscow State University? The Faculty of Chemistry does not establish a passing grade as such. By dividing the value of 398 (the value of the 2016 competition) by the number of tests, the applicant can estimate that on average he needs to score 80 points on each exam. Thus, excellent knowledge of chemistry and other subjects - physics, mathematics, Russian language - is required.

High personal achievements of the applicant will help to enter. For example, a gold or silver medal for school achievement adds five more points to the total points. The University will be glad to the participants of the Olympiads in specialized subjects, who won prizes. Winners in the fields of "chemistry" and "nanotechnology" are credited without entrance examinations... The only condition is USE result in a subject from 75 points and above.
