Dislocation - Pavlovsk (1782-after 1799), St. Petersburg.
Regimental march
The regimental march of the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment itself, frankly, does not shine and is of little interest, therefore I suggest you to replace the famous Jaeger March, also known as the "March of Glory", "Old Jaeger March". The Jaeger March itself is a foreigner (he came to Russia during the Napoleonic Wars), which did not stop him from becoming the most popular Russian military march. I have heard the original version of it, in my opinion - the original melody is too overloaded with the sound of timpani and other percussion instruments. But this is so, by the way…. In the form of a music file, the march is attached to the text of the essay and the download link is at the top of the page on the Izba-reading room website, on the PROSA.Ru website, the link will be posted in the review of this article.

5. Church of the regiment in the name of the Holy Martyr Myron
The marching (with the regiment) church existed since 1806. This church accompanied the regiment on campaigns: in 1807 in the battle of Friedland, in the Patriotic War of 1812, in 1863 during the pacification of Poland, in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-78 yy The Church of St. Myron is located at the very end of Ruzovskaya Street, on the bank of the Obvodny Canal. It was founded in 1849, at the behest of Emperor Nicholas I, who wanted all the regiments of the guard to have their own churches. The funds needed for the construction were allocated from the office of His Majesty. The work lasted 6 years; in 1855 the temple was completely finished and on August 17, 1855, in the presence of Emperor Alexander II, it was consecrated in the name of St. martyr Myron (The reason why the Emperor was pleased with the day of the regimental and temple holiday to choose the day of memory of St. Myron, August 17, was the fact that on this day in 1813, during the war with the French, the regiment in the battle near Kulm covered itself brilliant combat glory). What was the previous history of the regimental church of gamekeepers, from the time of the beginning of the existence of their regiment (1796) until the time of the consecration of the present temple, detailed and accurate information is not available and has not survived. Former in the XIX century. the fire destroyed a significant part of church papers. Work on the construction of the Church of St. Myron was carried out according to the plan and under the supervision of the architect Academician Ton, who later became famous builder of the Cathedral of the Savior in Moscow. The temple had the appearance of an oblong, arranged like a ship and inside two rows of columns was divided into three longitudinal parts: the middle one is higher and wider, the lateral ones are narrower and lower; over the middle part, near the altar, there is a wide dome. In accordance with the rise through the dome of the middle part, the side parts were also significantly raised in front of the altar, so that the entire front part of the temple - the altar and the pre-altar, even from the outside, significantly rose above the western half of the church. In each of the three parts a special altar was arranged: the middle one - the main one in the name of St. Paul the Apostle, in remembrance of the Emperor Pavel Petrovich, at which the regiment was formed; lateral, on the right side, in the name of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, as the closest prayerful patron of our capital, where his most sacred remains are buried in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra; lateral, on the left side, in the name of St. Martyr Myron, whose memory day served as a regimental holiday. The paintings in the temple were made by the best artists of their time: Markov, Solntsev, Zavyalov, Scoti, etc. In general, from the side of painting most of the icons and general painting, painting of vaults and walls, the Church of St. Mirona was distinguished by great merits. Among the church utensils, there were no old items that were important in their antiquity; but all the things of the Church were very valuable because of their high cost. These are, first of all, thrones and shroud. The thrones in all three chapels are marble, and in the middle chapel, the altar table is also decorated in front with a massive silver board; on it in the middle of the "Last Supper" with the figures of Christ the Savior and the Apostles poured out of silver. The shroud, however, is a positive decoration of the temple. It is all made of bronze and silver. Its cost reaches 12,000 rubles. It was cast in one of the best workshops in St. Petersburg according to drawings by the architect of the expedition for the preparation of state papers Nabokov. The church contains banners decorated with St. George's crosses; they were awarded to the regiment for special bravery and courage in the Patriotic War of 1812. The names of the officers of the Life Guards are inscribed on the copper boards nailed to the columns. Jaeger regiment, in the battle for the faith, the tsar and the fatherland laid their belly. At the left column, near the choir of the main chapel, behind the glass, the uniforms of the uniform of the Jaeger Regiment of four Emperors: Alexander I, Nicholas I, Alexander II and Alexander III are kept in a showcase. Among them, in the same showcase, in a special case, is kept the remainder of the regimental banner, which was considered lost in the Turkish War of 1828 and which almost 50 years later turned out to be kept by one officer-Jaeger, a participant in the war of 1828. In the winter of 1875, the remainder of this banner was found, and on August 17 of the same year, on the day of the regimental holiday, Emperor Alexander Nikolaevich, with a special rescript, put it in the prepared place in the church with his own hand. Near the second column, to the right, there is a beautiful and valuable pulpit for church preaching. The floor in the church is made of metal slabs. The Church of St. Myron, although it is considered a regimental one, is always visited by numerous outside pilgrims of the streets adjacent to the temple, especially since it can accommodate up to 5 thousand people. The bell tower is adjacent to the temple and is very high. Beneath the temple is the tomb of General Stepanov, the commandant of Tsarskoye Selo, as the oldest of the Jaegers. According to the staff at the Church of St. Myron, two priests and a deacon are appointed; the second priest receives the maintenance from the church with the right to receive emerity, but without the right to receive a pension. In the absence of a church house for the clergyman, the latter, in addition to the allocated apartment money from the treasury, is also given additional apartment money from church sums and firewood. Attributed to this temple - churches: the Preobrazhensky military cemetery and Aeroflavon. park with separate clerks. St. Petersburg. Nab. Obvodny canal, 99, corner of Ruzovskaya st. Built in 1849-1855. designed by K.A. Ton. In 1916, in the lower church, according to the project of E.N. Grushevsky, a crypt was built for the officers of the regiment who died in World War I, decorated with Italian marble. More than 34 officers were buried in the lower church. His Majesty's Life Guards Jaeger Regiment.

"Huntsman" in translation from German means "hunter, shooter". In the Prussian army, gamekeepers (they were recruited from the sons of foresters and hunters) proved their effectiveness in the Seven Years' War. For operations on rough terrain, not slender close ranks were needed, but small detachments of dexterous and well-aimed shooters, capable of acting alone. In the Russian army, on the model of the European ones, divisions of light infantry were created. "The grenadiers and musketeers rip with bayonets," said Suvorov, "and the huntsmen are shooting."

The Life Guards Jäger Battalion was formed in 1796 from the Jäger teams of the Life Guards regiments. Semyonovsky and Izmailovsky and from the ranger company of the Gatchina troops. In 1806 it was reorganized into the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment. In 1856 the regiment was renamed the Life Guards. Gatchinsky, but in 1871 its former name was returned.

Barracks of the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment on Ruzovskaya Street in St. Petersburg

For a hundred years, the "Petersburg apartments" of the Jaeger Guards Regiment were located at the Semyonovsky parade ground. In the capital, the Jaeger regiment first occupied the Semyonovsky barracks on Zvenigorodskaya Street (later called the "Old Yegersky"), and then moved to the "Novoegersky" barracks specially built for it on Ruzovskaya, no. 14, 16, 18.

Regimental Church of St. Myronia

Ruzovsky bridge and the regimental church of St. Myronia (1900s)

Since the gamekeepers were distinguished by their loyal education and liberal ideas had almost no spread among the officers, Nicholas I favored the regiment. At his own expense, he ordered the construction of a regimental temple for the gamekeepers in the name of the holy martyr Myronius between the barracks and the Obvodny Canal, at the confluence of the Obvodny and Vvedensky canals. It was built in 1849-1854. designed by A.K. Ton in memory of the victory of the combined forces of the Russian and Prussian armies over Napoleon near the town of Kulm on August 17, 1813 on the day of commemoration of St. Myron. The church was closed in March 1930 and blown up in 1934. Now there is a vacant lot and a car wash in this place.

The Life Guards Jaeger Battalion was formed in 1796 from the Jaeger teams of the Life Guards regiments.

For a hundred years, the "Petersburg apartments" of the Jaeger Guards Regiment were located at the Semyonovsky parade ground. In the capital, the Jaeger regiment first occupied the Semyonov barracks in Zvenigorodskaya street(later called "Old Egerskie"), and then moved to specially built for him "New Egersk" barracks on Ruzovskaya, 14, 16, 18. Since the huntsmen were distinguished by their loyal education and liberal ideas were almost not spread among the officers, Nikolai favored the regiment I. At his own expense, he ordered the construction of a regimental temple for the gamekeepers.

In 1816-1817. on the eastern side of Ruzovskaya Street, closer to the Obvodny Canal, for the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment arch. AE Shtauberg built the Novo-Jaeger barracks (No. 10-16), which have survived to the present day and are two U-shaped two-storey buildings stretched out on the even side of the street on a semi-basement floor made of red brick.

Formerly the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment, which began its history in 1796, was located in the so-called Staroegersky barracks at 5 Zvenigorodskaya Street (also preserved to this day).

In December 1917, the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment ceased to exist, and after the end of the Civil War, its barracks were occupied by the Red Army. During the Great Patriotic War, reserve military units of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army were housed here, in the basement premises as in the safest place.

After the Second World War, soldiers lived in the barracks of the former Jaeger Regiment on Ruzovskaya. Somewhere in the year 1959, when N.S. Khrushchev began to reduce the army, the military unit that occupied the Novoeger barracks was either disbanded or transferred somewhere. Instead, in one of the buildings of the former barracks, closer to the Obvodny Canal, the Medical School at the Pediatric Medical Institute is located, and in the other - the Medapparatura plant. Somewhere in the mid-1980s. the medical school moved to a specially constructed building in the Kirovsky district, and the plant began to be called "Medtekhnika".

Cobblestone pavements were on all the streets of Sementsov. The sidewalks were neatly lined with slabs of light yellow limestone, about 50 by 50 in size. In the dark, the streets were illuminated by incandescent bulbs that glowed with a dull yellow color. They were screwed from below into what looked like large white enamel plates, which hung on a thick wire stretched across the avenue or the street, fastened to the walls of buildings facing each other, somewhere on the third floor.

The writer Vsevolod Vitalievich Vishnevsky was "bound" by these barracks: his maternal uncle served as an officer in the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment, and Vishnevsky, as a boy, often visited with him in the Jaeger Regiment barracks on Ruzovskaya Street. When the First World War began, he ran away from home to the front as a fourteen-year-old teenager and was enlisted in the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment as a private huntsman. For the courage shown in battles with the Germans V.V. Vishnevsky was awarded three military awards, which he then proudly wore along with Soviet ones. Returning from the front to Petrograd in 1917, Vishnevsky, as part of the 6th reserve company of the Jaeger Regiment, participated in the October Revolution, and after the disbandment of the Jaeger Regiment, he moved to serve in the Marine Coastal Detachment of the Baltic Fleet. As part of this detachment, the future writer took part in the Civil War, and during the Great Patriotic War V.V. Vishnevsky was in the city throughout the blockade. Leningraders were very fond of his radio performances and were looking forward to them.
