From an article by V.I. Kedrov "Heroes do not die" ("The Testaments of Ilyich", 1967, 24 Oct.)

Mikhail Bakirov was born in the village of Uslukino, Yaropolets Volost. This land can be called fertile. Historians, artists, journalists will come here more than once and will certainly find here interesting topics for your works.

Childhood passed here former assistant Commandant of Berlin, Hero of the Soviet Union Guard Lieutenant Colonel Dodogorsky and Major General of Aviation Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolaev From here began the path to the glory of our fellow countryman Hero of the Soviet Union Cheshcharin. Right here. on the banks of the Lama, the remarkable Russian poet Ivan Pulkin was born and wrote poetry, who gave his life for the Motherland in the difficult forty-first year.

And how many names can be named that lead us to the deep history of this region!

The war found Sergeant Bakirov on Western front. He had to experience the bitterness of the first defeats. Along with the baptism of fire, battle wounds also appeared. The path to victory for Mikhail Bakirov passed through the battles on the Stalingrad and Voronezh fronts. There he became an officer. He commanded platoons and companies.

I happened to visit the native village of Mikhail Bakirov. Remember him there. They also remember him in Savkin, Musin, Telegin. His friends were there.

The last time Guard Captain Bakirov came home was in the autumn of 1943. On outpatient leave after injury. At home, he left a photograph that was taken in Volokolamsk. The captain's chest is decorated with the Order of the Red Banner, the Red Star, the medal "For the Defense of Stalingrad" and the guards badge. You will not see in the picture the green bandage on which the wounded arm of the captain hung. He removed it for the duration of the photograph. At that time, there was no third award on his chest - the Order of Alexander Nevsky.

Mikhail did not have to stay at home for long. A telegram from the commander of the 36th Volnovakha Guards Division arrived. They called back to the unit. It was at a time when the troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front were preparing to storm the Crimea.

Bakirov became a battalion commander. The troops were preparing. People learned to storm the enemy's fortifications, accurately throw grenades, quickly block bunkers and, together behind a barrage of fire, go on the attack.

In order to more vividly imagine the image of our countryman, it is worth referring to the memoirs of Colonel Tsarev, who was with the division where Mikhail served in Stalingrad, on the Mius and Molochnaya rivers, in the Donbass and Crimea. Bakirov was “...dense, stocky, with a mop of blond hair... The battalion commander's voice is sonorous, clear, of a pleasant timbre. An open, trusting look conquers the interlocutor. Bakirov is twenty-six years old. He was born in that significant year when the Red Army was created. Quite a young man. But in front of us sat an already experienced fighter. And I involuntarily thought: “No, it’s wrong to measure life path only for years..."

And then came April 8, 1944. On this day, the troops of the 3rd and 4th Ukrainian Fronts, a separate Primorsky Army, in cooperation with the Black Sea Fleet, began fighting against the 17th German army stationed in the Crimea.

April 8, 1944 - the last and brightest page in the life of our countryman. First rifle battalion the guards of Captain Bakirov, having broken through the heavily fortified defenses of the enemy on the Perekop shaft, moved forward. On the right was the battalion of Senior Lieutenant Loshakov. An order was given to take Armyansk by storm. Fulfilling his duty to the Motherland, the battalion commander Bakirov was the first to stand up and with the exclamation "For the Motherland!" led the soldiers on the attack.

Despite heavy mortar and rifle fire, the fighters, inspired by the heroism of the battalion commander, broke into the first enemy trenches. The battalion commander aptly threw a grenade and destroyed seven Nazis. The battalion destroyed 3 bunkers, exterminated up to 180 Nazis, captured 7 machine guns, 4 mortars and one self-propelled gun.

The further the battalion advanced, the stronger was the resistance of the enemy, - recalls Colonel Tsarev. - The path of the guards was blocked by explosions of mines and shells with a solid wall. To the right, two machine guns fired. The soldiers lay down. "This cannot be allowed!" - flashed through the mind of the battalion commander. He was closest to the enemy machine guns and, without hesitation, rushed to the bunker. He threw a grenade, there was an explosion. The gun was silent. But Bakirov did not have time to reach the second machine-gun point: a mine exploded very close behind. Over twenty fragments pierced his body. Mortally wounded, Bakirov shouted to his soldiers in a weakened voice:

Beat! Beat the Nazis even harder!

There is in the Crimea, at the gates of the Turkish Wall, a monument on a mass grave. On an obelisk crowned five pointed star, inscription: " Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland - To the Heroes of Perekop from the Military Council 2nd guards army».

Among the names carved in gold is the name of our countryman Mikhail Bakirov...

An excerpt characterizing Bakirov, Mikhail Maksimovich

Uncle rode frowning.
- Why should I meddle, because yours is a pure march! - in the village they paid for the dog, your thousandths. You measure yours, and I'll take a look!
- Scold! On, on, he shouted. - Scold! he added, involuntarily expressing by this diminutive his tenderness and hope placed in this red dog. Natasha saw and felt the excitement hidden by these two old men and her brother, and she herself was worried.
The hunter stood on a half-hill with a raised rapnik, the gentlemen drove up to him at a step; the hounds, walking on the very horizon, turned away from the hare; hunters, not gentlemen, also drove off. Everything moved slowly and sedately.
- Where is the head? Nikolai asked, driving up a hundred paces to the suspicious hunter. But before the hunter had time to answer, the hare, sensing frost by tomorrow morning, could not lie down and jumped up. A flock of hounds on bows, with a roar, rushed downhill after a hare; from all sides, the greyhounds, who were not in packs, rushed to the hounds and to the hare. All those slow-moving hunters-snipers shouting: stop! knocking down dogs, greyhounds shouting: atu! guiding the dogs, they galloped across the field. Calm Ilagin, Nikolai, Natasha and uncle flew, not knowing how and where, seeing only dogs and a hare, and fearing only to lose sight of the persecution even for a moment. The hare was caught hardened and frisky. Jumping up, he did not immediately gallop, but moved his ears, listening to the scream and clatter that suddenly resounded from all sides. He jumped about ten times slowly, letting the dogs approach him, and finally, having chosen a direction and realizing the danger, he laid his ears and rushed at full speed. He was lying on the stubble, but in front there were greenery, on which it was marshy. The two dogs of the suspicious hunter, who were the closest of all, were the first to look and pawn behind the hare; but they had not yet moved far towards him, when the Ilaginskaya red-spotted Yerza flew out from behind them, approached the dog at a distance, with terrible speed gave, aiming at the tail of the hare and thinking that she had grabbed him, rolled head over heels. The hare arched its back and pushed even harder. A broad-assed, black-spotted Milka came out from behind Yerza and quickly began to sing to the hare.
- Honey! mother! - Nikolai's triumphant cry was heard. It seemed that Milka would now hit and pick up the hare, but she caught up and swept past. Rusak retired. The beautiful Yerza settled down again and hung over the very tail of the hare, as if trying on how not to make a mistake now, to grab her back thigh.
- Erzanka! sister! I heard Ilagin crying, not his own voice. Erza did not heed his pleas. At the very moment when it was necessary to wait for her to grab the hare, he swung and rolled out to the border between greenery and stubble. Again Yerza and Milka, like a drawbar pair, leveled off and began to sing to the hare; at the turn it was easier for the hare, the dogs did not approach him so quickly.
- Scold! Scold! Pure business march! - shouted at that time a new voice, and Rugay, the uncle's red, hunchbacked male, stretching and arching his back, caught up with the first two dogs, moved out from behind them, gave a terrible self-sacrifice already above the hare, knocked him off the line into the green, another time he slammed even more viciously across the dirty greenery, sinking up to his knees, and it was only visible how he rolled head over heels, soiling his back in the mud, with a hare. The star of dogs surrounded him. A minute later everyone was standing near the crowded dogs. One happy uncle of tears and otpazanchil. Shaking the hare to make it bleed, he looked around anxiously, running around with his eyes, unable to find the position of his arms and legs, and spoke, not knowing himself with whom and what.
