Later the miners began to call it Rudnogorsk.

After the construction of the tent camp, it was proposed to be called Seventy-Palatinsk.

In official papers, the name of the settlement has changed many times.

Story

On February 18, 1949, MG Surgutanov, a pilot of one geological survey expedition, while flying over the Sarbai tract, noticed the strange behavior of the compass. A few months later, geologists and geographers arrived at the magnetic anomaly. This is how the Sokolovskoye iron ore deposit was discovered. The discovery and study of the deposit is attributed to the geologist V.P. Nosikov.

In the summer of 1954, the government decided to start the construction of the plant and the city under it.

In May 1955, the first builders arrived. The manager of the trust was Ya.M. Gimmelmarsh, and the chief engineer was V. Sh. Buresh. At first, miners, geologists and builders were located in the village of Komsomolsk. Additionally, tents were erected, and temporary prefabricated panel houses were built.

Already in 1955, the first 4 thousand people arrived at Bolshoi Turgai on Komsomol vouchers. The largest tent camp was located in the area of the VLKSM cinema. It consisted of seventy tents, and therefore went down in history as Seventy Palatinsk. Other tent camps were located on the site of the 39th block, near the village of Komsomolsky, in the area of the bakery, new settlers lived in more than 200 tents - 20 people in each. Tent camps had their own streets, the names of which spoke for themselves and which are still in the city: Stroitelnaya, Pionerskaya, Komsomolskaya, Ukrainskaya, Kievskaya and others.

The future city was laid 3 kilometers from Alekseevka. The first master plan was developed in 1953 and was designed for 22 thousand people. But already in 1954 this plan was revised, the population increased to 30 thousand people.

In the summer of 1956, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR decided to give Rudny the status of a working village. Also, the settlement of Komsomolsky was included in the boundaries of the working village.

Over time, the city of Rudny grew into a large industrial and cultural center of the Kostanay region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The volume of industrial production for 12 months of 2009 amounted to 145.5 billion tenge, or 76.1% of the fact of the previous year, which is mainly due to the decline in world prices for metallurgy products.

For the reporting period, the volume of production of the city-forming enterprise JSC SSGPO amounted to 128.3 billion tenge.

Plant "Kazogneupor", "Transremvagon", LLP "Leader-2" - production of alcoholic beverages, by "Arasan" - soft drinks, "Sarybai", "Irgiz", metal structures plant "Imstalkon", "DOK-mebel", "Kozhevenny factory".

Ore(kaz.) - a city on the Tobol river in. It arose in 1957 in connection with the development of an iron ore deposit and the construction of the Sokolovsko-Sarbaisky mining and processing plant.

Name

Originally "Rudny" was the name of the settlement of the builders of the Sokolovrudstroy trust. Later the miners began to call it Rudnogorsk. After the construction of the tent camp, it was proposed to be called Seventy-Palatinsk. In official papers, the name of the settlement has changed many times.

It is difficult to say what underlies the name of any settlement: more often it is something very characteristic of it; less often - chance intervenes. Our city has had both. Here is how the first chief engineer of the Sokolovrudstroy trust, V. I. Buresh, tells about it: “The village, which began to be erected on the site of the future city, we, the builders, named Rudny”. And so they began to write in all documents. Kombinatov's comrades, also on their own, called it "Rudnogorsk", and they also designated it that way in their papers. In the first half of 1955, the director of the enterprise under construction - that was the name of the plant - NF Sandrigailo and our trust manager YM Gimmelfard spent about four months in Moscow and Alma-Ata on the construction of the plant and the city. For them, we, the chief engineers, remained in place. We will prepare, it used to be, a general letter to some authority, we will put in it the date and our address "Rudny village, Kustanai region"; carried for signature to the chief engineer of SSGOK Candela. He will cross out "Rudny Settlement" and write his own - "Rudnogorsk Settlement" and always say: "It will be more optimistic!"

When the Kombinat workers prepared the paper, the Trusts crossed out "Rudnogorsk Settlement" and wrote their own - "Rudny Settlement". To the builders, this name seemed more original and significant: after all, for the sake of ore, in fact, such a grandiose construction was started. "
It is difficult to say how long this "war" would have lasted if it had not been for the arrival at the construction site of a special correspondent for the magazine "Ogonyok" VM Polynin. He examined the quarry, the settlement of geologists Pavlovsky and Komsomolsky, got acquainted in detail with the construction of the SSgOK and the beginning of the construction of the city, spent a lot of time with the first builders ...
The article by V. M. Polynin, which appeared in the fourteenth issue of Ogonyok (1955), was called Novosely Rudny. It was she who drew the line under the "war" by the choice of the name. The article contains the following words: "This city is not on the map, it is not even registered in the official lists, it does not yet have a name, but the pioneers of the new Magnitka think that the most suitable name for it is the city of Rudny!"
So, with the light hand of Polynin, letters from all over the Soviet Union flew to the construction site, on which there was an address - the city of Rudny! When they began to prepare documents for obtaining a new building with the status of a working village, the dispute resumed. It was at this time that N.F. Sandrigailo was summoned to the director of the Magnitogorsk Combine. Already getting ready for the journey, he gave his last orders and advice. And suddenly he asked: “What shall we call the workers' settlement? Probably later the city will also be called! "
- So after all, he has already been given both the name and the status of the city - Rudny. Letters are pouring from all over the country to our city. It turns out that the people have already decided this issue, why should we puzzle over it, - said V. K. Lyutikov, one of the first seven employees of SSGOK, head of the planning department.
- Well then! - said NF Sandrigailo, - I decided, I decided so. So we will propose to the regional executive committee and the Supreme Soviet of Kazakhstan. "This proposal was supported by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR and in August 1956 issued a decree, which stated: to classify the settlement as a working settlement during the construction of the Sokolovsko-Sarbay mining and processing plant of the Kustanai region of the Kustanai region, assigning it the name - "Rudny working village." Introduce the Komsomolsky settlement into the line of the Rudny working village. "

Ore - the city of regional subordination of Kostanay region - owes its name to a colossal iron ore deposit. The name of the city has changed several times (Rudnogorosk, Seventy-palatinsk), until the current one, which came from the name of the working village, was fixed.

Rudny lies within the hilly Turgai plateau on the banks of the Tobol. The landscapes of the surroundings are endless steppe. To the south of Rudny, upstream of the Tobol, there is the Karatomarskoe reservoir, created to ensure the operation of metallurgical plants. Seasonality is sharply expressed here, and the remoteness from the oceans is the reason for the dry weather regime.

The emergence of the city is associated with the name of the pilot Mikhail Surgutanov. In February 1949, he flew over the Sarbai tract and noticed the unusual behavior of the compass. Later, geographers and geologists arrived here. This is how the iron ore deposits of the Sokolovskoye deposit were discovered. The discovery is attributed to V.P. Nosikov. in 1954, a decree was adopted on the development of an ore deposit and the construction of a mining and processing plant. A year later (May 1955) the first workers came here.

The city was built not far from the old Russian village of Alekseevka, where in 1921 an ancient burial ground of the Bronze Age (3rd millennium BC) with rich archaeological material was discovered. Now this place is located within the city limits. Rudny grew at an extremely fast pace: in 1956 it already received city status.

The mining town is completely dependent on the work of its town-forming enterprise - SSGPO JSC. The appearance of the city and its environs is formed by two huge quarries - Sarbaisky and Sokolovsky quarries, as well as a system of storage lakes for the operation of enterprises. A specialized industrial institute operates in Rudny.

Rudny is not rich in sights. Basically, these are monuments dedicated to the short history of the city and its inhabitants - metallurgists and builders (for example, the "Kovsh" stele and the "Miner" monument). In 2012, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine was opened. On the banks of the Tobol, there is a city recreation park and a beach.
