Where to take the exam after college. Post-college studies. Full-time and part-time forms of study

After the ninth grade, many students go to colleges or schools. Not only inveterate C grade students go to colleges, but also excellent students, because after graduation they receive a full-fledged secondary education, and in addition to it - the demanded profession of an employee or a highly qualified worker. There is one more reason in favor of continuing education not in school, but in college or technical school: it is easier for graduates of specialized secondary schools to enter a university.

After graduation, you can immediately get a job - in the modern labor market there is now a shortage of specialists with secondary vocational education. But many graduates are in no hurry to find a job - they plan to continue their studies in higher educational institutions. There is a tendency among schoolchildren to go to colleges in order to get advantages when entering a university and not take the exam, which is quite difficult for many.

Why go to college after college / technical school

So is it worth continuing your studies after college? The answer is unequivocal - worth it. Moreover, college graduates have the opportunity to enter a university without the USE. They can combine work and study by choosing a correspondence or evening form of study, or they can study according to an individual schedule. It all depends on the abilities of the student and the rules of the institution itself. Without higher education, it will be difficult to improve your professionalism and you will not have to count on career growth: according to the law, many positions can only be held by holders of university degrees. If knowledge of theory is also confirmed by practical skills, which is typical for college graduates, then the chances of finding a prestigious and well-paid job increase significantly.

How to choose a university and whether you need to take the exam

After graduating from college, a logical question arises: where can you go then? Graduates have the right to choose any higher educational institution. They can continue to study in the specialty they have already received, or they can choose the diametrically opposite one. Indeed, it often happens that way - as they grow up and learn, young people come to understand that this is not their vocation and the soul does not lie in the profession that seemed ideal at the age of 16-17. Therefore, choosing a decent university after college is a very important step.

Prior to the release in 2015 of the order of the Ministry of Education and Science No. 1147, which amended the rules for admission to universities, applicants with open source diplomas enjoyed some concessions: they entered by interview or testing. Now all the cadidates are placed on practically equal terms.

Such a radical step is due to the fact that there is a growing shortage of mid-level specialists in the labor market, the state bears high costs for their training, and in fact, a very small percentage of holders of college diplomas go to work.

But the benefits, although limited, still remain: college graduates are admitted to universities in the form chosen by the educational institution itself (traditional exams, interviews, tests). Therefore, when choosing a university or institute to continue their studies after a technical school, one must pay attention to the admission rules, especially to those points in which the types of entrance examinations are established for applicants who have graduated from secondary schools.

Is the Unified State Exam obligatory

Admission to a university after college is possible both according to the results of the Unified State Examination, and according to internal exams conducted by the university. Intra-university exams are much easier in comparison with the USE tasks. They are carried out most often in the form of testing, their results are also evaluated on a 100-point scale. At the same time, one of the three subjects that are compulsory for all applicants, regardless of the form in which the discipline is taken - the Unified State Exam or the internal tests of the university, for applicants after a specialized college can be replaced by a complex special exam in the profession.

Despite the simpler version of the exams, you also need to prepare for them. MPEI University offers college and technical school graduates a unique and free preparation option: an online trial entrance exam.

What course do they go to after college / technical school

According to the innovations of 2015, all applicants enter the first year of the university - be it a graduate of a school or college. But each institute or university has the right to an individual approach to the terms of study of holders of open source diplomas. Since the educational process in the last years of college corresponds to the first years of the university, then at the request of the student, the option of individual training is possible.

Many universities provide in their training system an option of an abbreviated program for those students who have excellent academic performance and pass all the additional exams provided. When entering an institute after college, it is imperative to find out if there is an opportunity to study under an abbreviated program of study, and write a statement about your desire to study under such a program.

For example, the MPEI State University offers college and technical school graduates admission to accelerated training programs. The term of study will be from 3 to 3.6 years. For the convenience of combining work and studies, such programs are implemented in evening and correspondence departments.

Some universities practice the form of training "Weekend classes", which is very beneficial for those who plan to combine study and work.

How long does the training last

According to the new legislation, the duration of study at the institute for school and college graduates corresponds to the standard curriculum:

  • 4 years - bachelor's degree;
  • 5 years - specialization;
  • 2 years - Master's degree (6 years - Bachelor's + Master's degree).

Why college graduates find it easier to study at a university

College graduates, especially if they continue their specialized education, really study in a higher educational institution is much easier. After all, they are already well acquainted with the basics of the future profession, while studying in college they underwent practical training in production and they know many subjects not only theoretically. They have real ideas about the conditions and peculiarities of work, which are often not as ideal as described in textbooks.

In general, the educational trajectory "school - college - higher education institution", in which training in the secondary school is assigned the role of a kind of first stage of the undergraduate program, is quite viable and has many significant advantages.

Since 2009, the Unified State Exam is considered compulsory for school graduates. Pupils who have studied at school for eleven years are required to take Russian language and mathematics, as well as their chosen specialized subjects, in order to receive a certificate of secondary general education. But what about those who want to leave an educational institution a couple of years earlier, do they need to take the USE after the 9th grade? And what about those who studied in colleges, technical schools or institutes - you will learn about this in this article.

Do I need to take the exam after grade 9?

Certification is mandatory at school after grades 9 and 11. That is why schoolchildren have the right to unlearn for only nine years. However, they will have to take the GIA, which is an analogue of the USE. It also serves to control the acquired knowledge, but its results do not affect competitions in secondary vocational education institutions. The role is played only by the obtained certificate.

First, you need to find out if there is a need for ninth-graders to take the exam.

Do I need to take the exam after college or technical school?

Compared to the years of previous years, today a smaller number of institutes are ready to enroll applicants who have received secondary vocational education, but have not passed the final state certification. Also, on the part of the Ministry of Education, statements are becoming more frequent that it is necessary to abolish the opportunity for graduates of colleges and technical schools to enter universities if they do not have USE scores. There is a possibility that the conditions between college students and former high school students who graduated from grade 11 will become equal. However, the question remains how it works now.

There are two options for the development of events:

A student after graduating from college, for example by profession "Cook", wants to continue his education at the institute in the same direction. In this case, there is no need for him to pass the compulsory or specialized subjects of the exam, it will be sufficient to successfully pass the entrance examinations directly at the university.

After several years of study in a certain specialty, a person realizes that he wants to develop further in a completely different field and chooses a university and faculty in a different direction. Then he is simply obliged, like the former eleventh graders, to take the exam.

The same is the case with those who graduated from technical schools. There are a number of universities that are ready to enroll former students of the secondary school directly to the second or third faculty, but in practice this is quite rare.

Do I need to take the Unified State Exam after graduation?

People who have already received a crust on their first higher education are often worried about whether they, like schoolchildren, need to take the Unified State Exam in order to get a second. An important fact is that the second higher education is always carried out on a paid basis. Each university establishes its own rules for admitting applicants who already have bachelor's or specialist's degrees. Some institutes look at the grades received in the course of study in the past, in others they conduct entrance tests or interviews. But there is no need to take the exam. According to the law, the age limit in Russia for admission to a university is 50 years. Even those who graduated from school earlier, before the introduction of the USE, have the right to enter the institute on a general basis.

Although it is not necessary to take the second higher USE, nevertheless, the requirements imposed by the university on applicants are still high. It is assumed that those wishing to get a second degree are serious about this matter and intend to gain real knowledge.

Vocational schools and technical schools have now been renamed in Russia into colleges, which provide specialized education and various professions. The specialization of colleges is very different, but the most popular areas are often chosen:

  • service sector;
  • travel business;
  • cooking;
  • specialties related to the field of high technologies. Eleventh graders don't mind getting them.

Not all vocational schools were retrained into colleges, many were closed, among them a fairly large number of construction. A large percentage of vocational school graduates previously enrolled in MISS (Moscow Civil Engineering Institute). Working specialties, which are in fact very necessary, are also problematic to obtain (in the sphere of housing and communal services).

Teachers believe that after colleges (technical schools), children come to universities more prepared for student life and independent. A huge plus that there is already a specialty. Many have chosen the profession forever.

How subjects are taught in college and affect the delivery of the exam before university

There is one significant amendment here: subjects are taught as in school, only much less hours are allotted for them. The reason is that specialty items have been added.

The total number of hours in college is limited. As a result, the quality of knowledge leaves much to be desired, because the program of grades 10-11 is held in a shortened version. If you want to enter a university, you will have to hire a tutor and get the necessary knowledge in this way.

In many colleges, subjects are not taught at such a level that after you can go to college or university, but do not despair. The USE does not include all the material that is taught in a comprehensive school. You can pass the USE quite successfully if you start preparing in advance and gradually tighten the program to the desired level during additional classes.

Is the Unified State Exam for Colleges?

  1. On a whole, yes, graduates can take this exam. But there are a number of institutions where students deal with the issue on their own. Under the new laws, all graduating students wishing to continue to receive higher education are required to pass the exam on the same general basis as schoolchildren who graduated from grade 11. Two main subjects are offered - mathematics and Russian.
  2. After exams in the specialty and the delivery of the diploma work, the student is issued a diploma of obtaining secondary specialized education. If the Unified State Exam is passed, then a certificate and a certificate of secondary education are issued. Without a certificate, a document on secondary education (certificate) cannot be issued.
  3. Upon admission, the commission looks at the level of knowledge in the first place. It doesn't matter where the applicant studied - at school or has already come with an open source diploma.

Basic information required for admission to university after college

What you need to know

Earlier, college students did not take the exam. Now the conditions have changed and have become the same for everyone. It is necessary to pass the USE or internal exams in the subjects offered by the university, plus the basic ones. The rules are the same for the main forms of education: full-time, full-time, part-time.

  • If you have an open source diploma, then the name of the subjects for which you need to pass the exams is determined by the leadership of the university. But usually the results of the exam or internal exams are required, although they can provide the applicant with a choice of subjects.
  • The leadership of the university independently determines the option for passing one or another subject. For example, if you need to pass mathematics, chemistry and Russian, then the procedure and conditions are as follows: Russian - USE results, mathematics - an internal exam, chemistry - to choose from: an internal exam or USE results.
  • Initially, college and high school graduates must take the same examinations at their chosen faculty. But sometimes a specific university, at its discretion, has the right to assign a different subject for delivery to a college graduate. A young man or woman is informed about this in advance.
  • The number of subjects is the same for applicants of different groups (both schoolchildren and graduates of technical schools). The latter cannot be forced to take more exams or additional subjects.
  • The internal exam is usually proposed to be taken in writing, but the specific university itself draws up the necessary tasks and their type. If there is an open source diploma, then it is allowed to apply to obtain a specialist or bachelor's degree.

Important: the USE results are valid for 4 years.

Is it possible not to take the exam after college and go to university?

Often, higher educational institutions and colleges conclude agreements with each other, admit students only with internal exams. Before applying to college, you can ask your superiors these questions and start preparing right from the first year.

If the university is not satisfied with the contract with which it has been concluded, then you will have to take it to another institute or university on a general basis - through passing the Unified State Exam.

Accelerated program

A college graduate has advantages in this matter over a student, because he received a specialty and can apply for accelerated education. The decision whether or not to accept some of the subjects that a college graduate took is decided by the administration of the university and the faculty.

There are universities that refuse accelerated education, for example, Moscow State University. Naturally, the level of knowledge there is incomparably higher than in college. This means that you will have to complete all courses. In any case, the graduate needs to write an application according to the sample, the dean's office will accept it.

Why is a university needed

If you have received a good specialty, try and achieve high results, and also firmly believe in the choice of your future profession, then a higher education will help you find a better job.

  1. Often, a good vacancy with career prospects is not accepted because there is no higher education.
  2. There are options when in the process of work it is necessary to obtain a higher degree than just an open-source diploma. In this case, you need to enroll in the correspondence course or evening department. Convenient, because you can work in parallel and get work experience.

What to look for when choosing a university

Beforehand, think carefully about what to associate your further work with. When choosing a university and specialty, you need to consider such factors.

  1. What preparatory program is available - directions.
  2. The level of teachers, titles, scientific degrees, regalia.
  3. Information support of education, its level.
  4. Mandatory availability of a modern material and technical base at the university.
  5. Connections with other countries in the world, the opportunity (depending on the specialty) to go for an internship abroad.
  6. What a scholarship and social security, the presence of a hostel.
  7. The level of cultural and sports life at the university.

If you know exactly where you decided to go and have chosen a specialty, then you can enroll in the 3rd year of college for preparatory courses, where you can get to know the teaching staff, future classmates, and also go on a tour of the university.

Conclusion

  • It is advisable to enter a higher educational institution after a technical school, vocational school (college), because a good education is a necessary condition in many companies and enterprises.
  • While studying in college, you can take the USE in the first years and get a certificate of secondary education, or you can take the USE at the end of the last year.
  • You can start preparing for a university a year before admission in order to improve knowledge.

More than 40% of Grade 9 graduates leave school and continue their studies in college. The 9-grade college curriculum includes the simultaneous receipt of secondary general education. But it takes 3 years and 10 months to study. Can a college student not wait until the end of his studies, but pass the USE earlier, get a certificate of secondary general education and continue his studies at the university?

College students study general education in their first and second years. Therefore, after completing the second year of college, they have the right to pass the state final certification, upon successful completion of which they are issued a certificate of secondary general education.

Where to apply for the Unified State Exam?

If the college is accredited, then the application for passing the exam must be submitted to the college itself. If the college or technical school does not have such accreditation - the application must be submitted together with the graduates of previous years - at the application points determined by the regional authorities.

For admission to the Unified State Exam, you need to submit a certificate from the college confirming the development of educational programs of secondary general education or the completion of the development of educational programs of secondary general education in the current year.

How to get a passport?

After passing the state final attestation (USE), a college student has the right to receive a certificate (part 6 of article 68 of the Federal Law on Education). However, this issue can be technically challenging.

Option 1 - the college has a certificate of accreditation for the secondary education program

The certificate can be issued only by educational organizations that have a certificate of state accreditation for the educational program of secondary general education. If the college has accreditation, the student can easily get a certificate at the college and continue his studies in the secondary vocational education program, while trying to enter a university.

Option 2 - the college does not have a certificate of accreditation for the secondary education program

In practice, most colleges do not have such a certificate.

Official clarifications on this issue suggest that students attach to any educational organization that is accredited as an external student in order to pass the GIA and receive a certificate.

But for admission as an external student, schools require original documents. The student can ask the college administration to issue him a certificate on the basis of paragraph 37 of the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of June 14, 2013 N 464 "On approval of the Procedure for organizing and carrying out educational activities in educational programs of secondary vocational education"

37. The educational document submitted upon admission to an educational organization is issued from a personal file to a person who graduated from an educational organization, dropped out before graduating from an educational organization, as well as a student and wishing to enter another educational organization, at his request. At the same time, a certified copy of the education certificate remains in the personal file. (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of June 14, 2013 N 464 "On approval of the Procedure for the organization and implementation of educational activities in educational programs of secondary vocational education")

It is also possible to find an educational organization that will not require original documents for admission as an external student. As a rule, evening schools provide this opportunity. A student can attach as an external student to an evening school, receive a certificate, without providing original documents of education and without dropping out of college. That way, you can get your 11th grade certificate without dropping out of college.

Legal bases

Letter of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia of 03/17/2015 N 06-259 "On the direction of modified recommendations on the organization of obtaining secondary general education within the development of educational programs of secondary vocational education on the basis of basic general education, taking into account the requirements of federal state educational standards and the profession or specialty of secondary vocational education "

Rosobrnadzor letter of February 17, 2014 N 02-68 "On passing the state final certification in educational programs of secondary general education by students in educational programs of secondary vocational education"

Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of June 14, 2013 N 464 "On approval of the Procedure for the organization and implementation of educational activities in educational programs of secondary vocational education"

The need to pass the USE at the end of the secondary school arises if the graduate decides to change his specialty and plans to enter the institute in a different direction. Citizens of the CIS countries who, corresponding to the profile of the university, do not need to take an exam.

Drop off points

Even while studying at a secondary school, you can take preparatory courses in the necessary subjects: compulsory and specialized. Very often in the educational institutions themselves there is a similar opportunity. This is the best option for those students who have made the final choice. The college can independently send the lists to the points where they sign up for the unified state exam. All that an applicant needs is to improve his knowledge of the necessary subjects and appear on the day of the exam.

Some domestic universities have pre-university training centers. In them, graduates of secondary schools can familiarize themselves with the rules and procedure for conducting the test. There they also have the opportunity to write a trial test and then pass the exam. The certificate with the exam results will replace the entrance exam. The advantage of this option is that the college graduate will have a good chance of being accepted into a budget place.

In addition, everyone can independently register for the USE without intermediaries. To do this, you need to contact your local department of education. The exam is held in the same format for both school graduates and secondary vocational schools.

How to take an exam after college?

An applicant with the USE results can submit an application and documents to 5 universities at once, which is a good advantage. All that is required in this case is:

  • Choose a university and see the list of subjects required for admission.
  • Prepare for the exam.
  • Come to the exam point on the appointed day and complete all the tasks.
  • Find out the results and get a certificate.

When taking exams, do not forget that for each subject there is a minimum score that you need to score for admission to a university. The Unified State Exam is an indicator of the level of knowledge and educational success. At the same time, do not forget that there are universities where you need to take entrance tests. In particular, Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University and some other universities have such powers. The rest of the institutes and universities must admit students taking into account the USE scores.

If the result turns out to be unsatisfactory, then do not give up. You can try to improve it by filing an appeal with the appropriate commission. If this does not help you, then retake the USE in an additional time frame. In this case, you will have to try hard, otherwise the retake will be available only next year.

Good exam results will open the way to many universities you are interested in, therefore, if you are confident in your knowledge of the compulsory and additional subjects, you can try to take the tests. In general, it's up to you to take them after college or not. If you decide to take the unified state exam, then start preparing for it as early as possible in order to score more points based on the results.
